LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT LINE 3 (LRT3)

Appointed by Setia Utama LRT3 (Previously MRCBGK) as the overall EMC Consultant for both Systems & Civil Works.

Engaged by PT LEN to provide consultancy services in respect of:
Establishment for the Main Contractor Wika, a Project Wide (Systems & Infra) Earthing & Bonding and Lightning Protection Strategy document, with due consideration of stray current risks;
EMC, E&B, and Lightning & Surge Protection associated with the complete Communications Work Package and SCADA, including technical support in respect of interfaces and integration with other work package contractors;
Providing on-the-job training/mentoring/tutelage to the Client EMC (incl. Lightning) - E&B Team, including providing informal training to the sub-contractors of the Client in respect of EMC, E&B, and LV Power Distribution;
Subsequently requested by PT Len to:
Lead the 3rd Rail Team to close-out outstanding technical matters during the Design Phase;
Lead the Blue Light System Team in the Design, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Testing & Commissioning Phases.
Ampang Line Extension Project

Responsible for the horizontal and vertical integration of Earthing & Bonding, EMC, Lightning & Surge Protection across the complete railway spectrum of Signalling, Communications, Traction Power Stations, Over-Head Equipment, including integration with Infrastructure Works.
Ipoh Padang-Besar 25kV AC Double Tracking Project

Engaged by Balfour-Beatty Ansaldo-Systems STS JV (BBASJV) to provide long-term Consultancy Services.
Responsible for the horizontal and vertical integration of Earthing & Bonding, EMC, Lightning & Surge Protection across the complete railway spectrum of Signalling, Communications, Traction Power Stations, Over-Head Equipment, including integration with Infrastructure Works.
BHP Billiton – RPG Upgrade
Australia
Evaluation of the existing Lightning Protection System for the upgrade of the Communication Facilities as a part of the BHP Billiton RPG Upgrade programme.
Existing Indian Railways

The initial phase of the works involved the technical audit of existing MicroLok II Signaling Systems in Bangalore, Calcutta, and New Delhi.
Based on the findings of the audit, there were several technical discussions on improvements in terms of immunity to Lightning & Surges, EMC, minimizing cost of grounding, and reducing theft of materials.
Acuity established Design Documentation on Grounding, Lightning & Surge Protection & EMC.
Several training sessions were then conducted in Bangalore, Calcutta and New Delhi.
Al Jazeera English Television Studio & Broadcast Facility
Malaysia
Al Jazeera English has a reach of 80 million homes, and as of 2007, the channel is one of the three largest global English language 24 hour news channels. Located in Doha, London, Washington, and Petronas Twin Towers (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). This facility is one of four constructed simultaneously in the world during 2005/06. The project required a ‘Technical Earth’ at Level 60 of the Petronas Twin Towers.
Acuity was selected as the Consultant for the Design, Supervision, & Testing of the Grounding System to manage the Common Mode Noise and the associated high frequency effects of the huge number of broadcast equipment within the floor. The Scope involved Neutral Management of UPS and Isolation Transformers, Signal Reference Grids, Low Impedance Grounding & Bonding, and EMC Installation Practices.
Shell Refining Company
Malaysia
Implementation (retrofit) of Lightning & EMC measures for a Plant Equipment Room at the Shell Refinery in Port Dickson, Malaysia.
This involved the replacement of an existing single point earthing schema comprising separate instrument and safety earths, with a common bonded low impedance multi-point earthing schema utilizing a Signal Reference Grid, and low impedance bonding measures. Upgrade was done on a live plant.
Freescale Semiconductor

The KLFM plant is based on a dual 132kV Intake from TNB.
Acuity was appointed to do an evaluation of Voltage Sags and Harmonic issues at the KLFM Plant and carry out a comparative evaluation with Freescale plants in US and China. In addition, Acuity's scope of works included:
Recommendations on P.Q. mitigation measures, Evaluation of Conducted Ground Leakage Currents, EMC Installation Practices, Surge Protection and Bonding.
